
David and Susan Varella Married since 1970 and have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Lived in the West Palm Beach, FL area since 1971. Presently, they are members of Sonfest Chapel church in Jupiter, FL (formally New Life Alliance Church) with the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination
Susan has been in a Christian education environment since 1985. She has worked since 1996 as an administrative assistant for the VP of Religious life and Dean School of Ministry at Palm Beach Atlantic University, West Palm Beach, FL..Recently she has taken the position as the administrative assistant for the VP of Business Affairs and CFO at the university.
David has worked nearly 20 years as a test engineer with the Space Division (RL10 program) at Pratt and Whitney Rocketdyne overseeing the assembly and testing upper stage rocket engines and working as a launch support backup representative. As a ordained minister with Logos Christian Ministries International since 1987, David has worked as a Bible teacher, interim local church pastor, worship leader, administrator, and has ministered with other para-church organizations. Currently David is a licensed and ordained member of the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministries International, Irving, Texas.
Dr. Frank J. Varella, president and CEO of China Mission Project – Varella, Inc, Frank (David’s brother) is the father of four children and five grandchildren and has lived in Port St. Lucie County, FL since 1985. Frank has received Doctorate of Ministry and Masters of Biblical Studies from Freedom Seminary, June 2003 and 2001 respectively. He is ordained as a minister by Haven of Hope Church, Port St. Lucie Florida, and as an elder in October 1999. Frank is a licensed member of the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministries International, Irving, Texas. Frank recently retired as Chief Financial Officer for the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority in Fort Pierce, Florida and has been employed with the company since 1985. Other designations include Certified Management Accountant, Certified Public Finance, Certified Government Finance Officer.

Dr. Kenneth L. Mahanes has served as pastor of Southern Baptist churches for thirty years. His most recent experience was a nineteen-year tenure as senior pastor of the Far Hills Baptist Church of Dayton, Ohio. He completed his undergraduate degree at Georgetown College and his master's degree and doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been active in denominational life for many years including serving as President of the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio for two terms and as a member of the SBC Executive Committee for ten years. Since 1998, Dr. Mahanes has been with Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL where he has served as dean of the School of Ministry and interim president. He currently serves as the University's Vice-President for Religious Life. Ken resides in West Palm Beach with his wife Evelyn and has 2 sons and 2 grandchildren.
Debby Smith has extensive background and training in ESL and holds a master’s degree in multicultural education from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL. Debby served 9 years as a pastor’s wife. For the past seven years she has been teaching ESL to adults and high school students. Her passion for missions has been with her since she was a teenager. Debby resides with her husband, Dr. Carl Smith, and 3 of their 5 children, in Cedarville, OH.
